Power Generation
In summer of 2007, Lakehead Constructors installed approximately 5000' of cable under Lake Superior from Superior, Wisconsin to Park Point in Duluth, MN. Extensive dewatering and heavy cable pulling was required. Lakehead's crews worked to send a pilot cable through an existing piping and subsequently pulled three new cables in one continuous installation using the pilot cable. The successful project resulted in a significant cost savings over the option of installing cable in a new casing beneath the lake bed.
